E-Motive Supplies Customised Displays For London Underground
Elevator display specialist E-Motive has provided bespoke LED displays for stations on the London Underground.
Dewhurst, the elevator component supplier, approached E-Motive following a request from a major elevator manufacturer for a new specification of display. The displays needed to be very bright - to make them easily visible from a distance - and able to show elevator position, upper and lower case letters, as well as both standard and customised messages.

Due to the different elevator car sizes found in the nine stations concerned, the displays also had to be supplied in non-standard lengths of 1.1m and 0.9m; provision was made for a 1.4m version, which has yet to be delivered. E-Motive accomplished this by adapting its existing range of long displays and modifying the relevant software.

“Our client was amazed by the speed of E-Motive’s response,” said Mike Leach, head of European elevator sales at Dewhurst. “Within a week of an enquiry being made they’d been sent a photo, and a week later they received a product sample.”

The displays have been, or are due to be, installed at Edgware, Hendon Central, Golders Green, Finchley Central, Wood Lane, Oakwood, Acton Town, Shepherd’s Bush and Stratford.

Luxury Singapore Hotel Installs Stylish Elevator Displays from E-Motive
Starwood Hotels has installed 96 E-Motive LCD elevator displays at its luxury 6 star St. Regis Hotel and Residences in Singapore, scheduled to open in December 2008.
With almost 300 oversized hotel rooms and 173 apartments, the St. Regis is set in the heart of the prestigious Orchard Road district, with excellent access to shopping and entertainment. It has 27 elevators that are used to carry passengers over 23 floors.

As part of the deal, E-Motive supplied the hotel with 78 of its PT9001 high-resolution text displays. This LED serial-controlled text indicator system signals floor legends, directional arrows and status messages for passengers waiting for, or travelling in, the hotel elevators. The text display series offers many format options such as scrolling or double row text and customised messages for specific users.

In addition, eight FS0840 8.4 inch LCD dual screens and 10 FS1040 10.4 inch LCD screens were also supplied. These high-end displays provide elevator passengers with information such as travelling direction, date, time and specific user messages and pictures. Content of the displays can be managed by the building operator and can go beyond basic elevator information to include advertisements and company logos.

Commenting on the installation, Chris Stoelhorst, Managing Director of E-Motive Display, said, “Our displays are sleek and stylish and very popular with high profile buildings such as the St. Regis. They help enhance the entire hotel experience and we are delighted Starwood Hotels chose our products.”

E-Motive Display's EAVIS LCD in Cathay Cineplex
As part of a major 6 year redevelopment, the iconic Cathay Cineplex in Singapore has incorporated E-Motive Display's multimedia LCD elevator displays in its elevators and foyers.
E-motive's elevator displays - particularly the full-colour, multimedia EAVIS models - are now seen as the obvious choice for high-end projects like this one, where image and sound quality are paramount. Unlike other systems, EAVIS elevator displays are interfaced with the elevator controller and always shows the elevator's floor position and direction.

EAVIS also features groundbreaking, user-friendly scheduling software that runs on MS Windows, enabling building personnel to schedule multiple communication events that are initiated either at floor arrival or by the time of day. Other options include visual information systems for lobbies, foyers and hallways.

The Cathay Cineplex originally opened in 1939 and is a Singapore institution. The recent refurbishment cost SG$100 million (US$63 million) and combines the original art-deco facade with an ultra modern glass 'skin' which encloses the entire building. The first 7 stories house cinemas, retail and food outlets and an art gallery. The remaining 10 stories consist of exclusive apartments.
