The General Assembly Building in Virginia, USA underwent modernization to improve lift traffic in the busy government facility.
In addition to the renovations to the lift cars and controls, multimedia LCD screens were added to help visitors better navigate the structure. Sixty-six screens were installed throughout the facility, both in the seven public lifts and the hallways outside the lifts.
The Commonwealth plans to use the screens to display a directory of bills under debate with corresponding locations during General Assembly sessions. At the busy times, the building lifts respond to as many as 2,500 hall station calls a day. The multimedia LCDs will help disseminate vital information to these visitors.
